FAQ’s

Am I Suitable for Laser Hair Removal?

Our Diode Crystal freeze Laser is suitable for all skin types & Laser Hair Removal is rapidly becoming the most popular treatment used for both men & women to remove unwanted hair on a permanent basis.

You will be required to come for a consultation & test past prior to any treatment being started. During the consultation your laser practitioner will examine your skin & hair type for suitability & explain the treatment procedure in full to ensure you are happy to proceed. When the test patch is carried out a treatment plan can be discussed to suit you & ensure you receive the very best results. Aftercare advice is also thoroughly explained during your consultation.

How does the treatment work?

Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light to remove unwanted hair. During the treatment, the laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair so the darker the hair the more effective the results. The light energy is then converted to heat, which in turn destroys the hair follicle & this damage then permanently reduces any future hair growth.

The procedure itself is carried out safely using protective eyewear & the laser head is simply places on to the skin with a layer of gel on the treatment area. The applicator is pressed with a slight pressure to ensure the pulse of light is released directly on to the skin & then repeatedly moved across the area until treated.

An aftercare advice sheet is given following your first session & is reiterated after every treatment to ensure you understand & support the best results from your Laser Hair Removal.

How many treatments are required?

Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed due to the laser only working on hairs in the growth stage which are still attached to the follicle.

To ensure the best results for you we recommend on average 6-10 sessions to successfully achieve your overall goal of permanent hair reduction & a 4-8 week interval between each appointment depending on which area is being treated. Maintenance treatments may also be required in the future.

Please note – Treatment with Male clients & other conditions such as PCOS will need more than the average number of treatments due to the higher levels of testosterone which naturally make the body want to produce more hair.

Does it hurt?

At the Laser Look we use the latest in crystal freeze technology so our applicator has an icy cold cooling element which reduces the heat sensation to the skin making the treatment as comfortable as possible. As we aim to gradually increase the energy setting each time you come you will eventually experience a slight heat sensation or flick to the area which is described similar to that of a small rubber band flicking on the skin.

Following your Laser Hair Removal we recommend plenty of aloe vera gel as you will witness slight redness or some swelling to the skin. This is only short term & the gel simply helps soothe the area and repair the skin.

If you have any other queries please don’t hesitate to contact us & these can be discussed at your consultation.
